help with detailed usage reports

Asked By: Shauna    Date: Dec 11    Category: MOSS    Views: 1116

Running WSS 3.0 SP2

I am pretty sure that there are some details about who logs into a site
and when in the SharePoint log files. But for the life of me I cannot
find it. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Isn't that in the IIS logs????????????

Liz might also be thinking about the SharePoint Usage report, they're
under Site Actions > Site usage report. If nothing shows up there then
they need to be turned on in Central Administration. Go to Operations >
Usage Analysis Processing to enable it.

I looked at the SharePoint usage reports and they do not
give enough detail for what I need. I will take a look at the IIS logs

See if this helps,
www.toddklindt.com/.../Post.aspx?ID=85 It shows how
to use a free tool, Log Parser, to get information from the IIS logs.

Neither the IIS logs or the usage reports gave what we needed. It turns
out that we had to programmatically turn on auditing (WSS 3.0 site) and
then programmatically extract the information and send it to a reporting
mechanism. If interested, I can get my programmer to elaborate.
