Help Desk template

I have a SPS 2007 site (no MOSS) and I'm evaluating the Help Desk and
Call Center templates. They seem to be fairly complete for my needs but
for one feature. I don't see service request id's anywhere. I was
assuming that each Service Request would receive an automatically
assigned incremental ID number like you would see in lists. Am I wrong?
Is there a way to enable or create that function?

Go to list and modify the default view, then select ID column there.
that's it...!
