I have a client who'd like to use a Discussion Board, but they want
each "Discussion" to be related to a particular project using a drop
down field.

The project name, and project id need to come from a SQL table (or
another SharePoint list if that's not possible).

The key is that they want to keep the threaded view, and they want to
be able to link to the discussion/messages based on the project id...
