help with attaching a database in SP2010

I am in the process of testing SharePoint 2010 for our company and have
the following setup:

1 SQL2005 SP3 CU3 running on Windows 2008 R2 and 1 SharePoint 2010
running on Windows 2008 R2

I have completed a bare bones installation of SharePoint and was testing
the database attach method for upgrading. The command I ran is:

Mount-SPContentDatabase -Name WSS_Content_it -WebApplication http://it

This appeared to work well and I did not see any errors and it completed
to 100%. The next thing I did was to remove the original database from
the web application and left the one I just upgraded in place. Problem
is that I noticed that the Current Number of Site Collections is zero
and I am unable to get any content from the newly mounted database.

Can anyone tell me how to get the site collection to register with the

Did both databases (the original one and WSS_content_it) both have the
same site collections in it? That'll often happen with the / site
collection. Detach the wss_content_it and reattach it and see if that
helps. I bet your site collections will show up.
