Having a problem with the alert action

Asked By: Grayson    Date: May 26    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1014

I previously sent a message but no one knew what to do. I am
having a problem with the alert action. For example if you create a
survey, you have the option to create an alert which will send an e-
mail address to whoever you want. My problem is I setup the alert,
but it is not going to the e-mail address that I setup (I tried a
couple to make sure it wasn't an e-mail problem). Initially it send a
message saying that an alert has been setup, but then no alert
messages get sent when anything has been changed, deleted or added. I
did some research and somebody from a website collutions.com said:

"Alerts cannot be processed if the account that the SharePoint Timer
Service is running under does not have access to the content database."

Apparently he changed the username under this service and it was fine
for him. When I go to the SharePoint Timer Service, properties have
the logon as NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK, and there is a long encrypted

I guess I am just stuck and don't know how to get mail sent to me.
Does this timer service have anything to do with it. Can I change the
user in SharePoint Timer Service and have it not mess anything up?
Does anyone know how to resolve this or have any suggestions that can
help me out.

Not sure if it will help try to switch SP timer service  to run under
same identity you connect to content  database from your portal.

Is it area or site survey?

-Check content indexes and see if there errors after crawl

-Check SQL server catalog errors

Yes you should change  it to a logon  on service account  that you have for
all your services...Get rid of the NT Authority and you will be just find....I
always use an account
that is local administrator and does noting but services...such as
runs all the services...and you specify a password.
