Group Board Site Template Errors

Asked By: Palak    Date: Oct 20    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 2269

I installed the GBW Group Board Site Template because I thought it was
an awesome way to implement an in/out board. Well it screwed a lot of
things up.

Anybody know how to fix this (errors are rampant farm-wide)

It broke calendar week view in all other subsites on the farm that
didn't have this feature installed.

When I undeployed the solution I get even more errors:

If I try to view all site content (in order to delete the lists that
used this feature) I get the error

Feature 'a568770a-50ba-4052-ab48-37d8029b3f47' for list template '405'
is not installed in this farm. The operation could not be completed.

So I've been exporting subsites to a fresh site that doesn't have these
problems. Stsadm -o export gives me the error

[9/20/2007 9:35:43 AM]: FatalError: Failed to compare two elements in
the array.

....

*** Inner exception:

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
....
Exporting and restoring the Site Template with content restores an empty
site.

Any Ideas?

The calendar  error can be worked around by creating a new groupboard
site in each web application then delete  or hide it. The details are at

I opted to uninstall the groupboard solution  entirely.
Now I can't delete  these lists  from a site  that I use frequently:

Facilities and Shared Assets
Groups of users and Facilities
Holidays
Phone Call Memo
Schedule and Reservations
What's New
WhereAbouts

In SharePoint Designer I get the error "The folder selected for
deletion contains one or more lists, document libraries, or galleries
that your website requires in order  to function correctly. Therefore
you cannot delete the folder"

Unfortunately it is these lists that break the "All Site Content"
listing.

I can find these lists in the database and I'm wondering if I should
be brave enough to just delete the line items from dbo.AllLists?

Oh, And I can redeploy the groupboard application and at least get the
lists to display, but none of the lists  have a delete  option. If I type
javascript:DeleteList() in the URL while I'm on the settings page I get
the error "This list  Cannot be Deleted"

Okay, so I'm coming to terms with the idea that I just can not remove
these lists.

I'm going to keep GBW.wsp installed  because even though adding it
introduced irreparable errors  to my farm, removing it introduces even
more!

At least there seems to be published workarounds for the problems
that exist for it being installed.

Is there at least a way to HIDE these lists  so they don't appear to
users or Administrators?
