Global SharePoint Design

My company has four units, North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia.
We are starting to talk about using SPS in each unit. Currently we have one
setup in North America and Europe. I told the CIO roughly the below
information. Did I miss anything, am I off base, what are your thoughts?

Have you looked at Microsoft Solutions for Intranets (1.5) yet?

No, but I will now, thanks --

On the language issue, you can install a French version of SPS on an
English OS (as an example). IOW, the OS and SPS do not need to be in the
same language. Secondly, however, the language of SPS and it's
workspaces must be in the same language.

Now, I'd be hard-pressed to believe that your indexing servers will be
working 24x7 to index three other servers. Unless you have a huge
corpus, I doubt this will be the case.

I understand they won't be working 24/7, I
was just trying to make a point that an additional server will be needed at
each location. Sometimes my company  will always take the bottom line over
performance, and I want to set up certain expectations for the expected
budget battles.
