Getting ready to Migrate

Asked By: Nadia Alvarado         Date: Feb 06, 2010      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 295

I am getting ready to Migrate a WSS 2.o site to a WSS 3.0 Site. I have
all of the instructions from Microsoft. Any other advice?

Right now my basic plan is to :

1. Set the 2.0 site to "read-only"
2. Backup the 2.0 site
3. Setup the 3.0 environment
4. restore the 2.0 content into the 3.0 site

I realize there are little steps in between that I didn't mention but
I think we all get the idea. I have not ever done this before so i was
wondering if there was anything tried and true methods?

As long as you stick to MS instructions  you should be fine...however, if the env
is pretty huge, would worth spending time doing mock migration on a sand box....

Keep an eye on the service packs that should be applied at the OS level...

I'm guessing you have already migrated.

If not, check out our website.

It's a pretty granular migration tool we offer.

I work at a company called AVEPOINT. www.avepoint.com

Check out our website and if you have any questions give me a call.
