How to get new GUID's after doing a backup/restore

Asked By: Marcus Dardy         Date: May 24, 2011      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 1894

Hi All,

I backed up a site using stsadm and restore that site to another location. Everything looked great after the restore. My only problem is that the GUID's for lists/libraries,etc. are the exact same on the new restore site. I am trying to figure out a way that when I do this it creates new GUID's for those lists/libraries. Is there a way to do this?

I also tried an export/import and that does create new GUID's but the rest of the content for the other pages like webparts and things like that didn't get brought over so I would have to add the webparts to the pages that were there on the other site. Is there a way to do bring over all of the content from the previous site using export/import.

Whatever is the easiest/doable method, please let me know.
