First, I'm opposed to putting random pages into the 60 hive's
.\60\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS\1033 directory.

Second, I wrote a Current User Web Part that can be downloaded (source
code and all) from Mindsharp's Premium Content area. It can be used to
optionally show the user currently logged in. I also implemented the
IRowProvider Web Part Connection interface in my Current User Web Part
can, so it can send the current user to any other Web Part that
implements any of the following Web Part Connection interfaces:
1. IRowConsumer interface
2. ICellConsumer interface
3. IFilterConsumer interface
4. IParametersInConsumer interface

Of course, the last three use a transformer to pass the data.

It's always a good practice to create a folder say Custom in
%Drive%:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\60\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS\1033\
and put any custom page/css in this folder. For example : custom_ows.js, custom_sps.css, custom_wss.css
