I want to generate a list of documents in our sharepoint server for
use as an index.
Has anyone tried to do this using VBA and can help me out.

You might look at web dav and create a query that will do a deep
traversal of the document library. This will return a list  in xml format
which you then can transform into a clean txt file.

I would suggest you look at the code on http://www.sharepointcode.
com under the code section titled listfiles.vbs. If what you want
is a flat file with the information you will simply need to go in
and edit the code. Create an instance of the filesystem object and
add all of the file names to the file you created. It isn't too
difficult and that file really helps you out. if you need more help
just let me know.

Yes. I took the listfiles.vbs script from sharepointcode.com and created
a sitemap. It was rather large so I only limited it to folders but you
could do the same for your site. Ours just has too many files (20k+) to
list all files. Let me know if need a hand with the script and I'd be
happy to customize it for you or post it here.
