I've recently created a small solution whose scope and function fit GAC
quite well. When deployed on our test farm, the DLL and associated page
functioned correctly.

However, when deployed in the staging environment (same installer file), the
page threw an "unknown error" which turned out to be the old
"System.Web.HttpException Exception Message: Could not load type XXXX"
error.

At this point I got the Fusion Log working with a custom path, and it does
indeed log entries when I use stsadm (which is disturbing, since I just
ran a standard backup command and it claims it can't find certain key files,
though the backup ran successfully).

Even though I know fusion logging is working, it doesn't log anything when I
run my test page and grab the apparently unavailable assembly. Is there
something I'm missing here?
