FP and Enhanced Folders

Asked By: Amrit    Date: Aug 30    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 860

Are you aware of any way to use FrontPage to edit WSS HTML files
while maintaining the document management functionalities ?

If i map the WSS to a drive letter (for example S:\) then
i can work normally and i can open, edit and save back to
WSS Html pages. The problem is that mapped WSS drives
don't keep enhanced folders properties and therefore i
loose all document management functionalities from SPS.

Try using the Web Folders to edit  files

I already tried with Web folder but:

When i try to open  a page from a workspace using File/Open
in FP i can browse to the workspace (webfolder) and select the page
i need. The page opens properly and i can modify it. The
problem arises when i try to save  it back  to the workspace.
I get the following error : A generic error saying that FP
extensions are missing and when i click on Details of the
error i get : HTTP/1.1 409 Conflict.

A different behaviour when i try to open my workspace as
File/Open Web using web folder: in this case i can browse the
workspace file structure with the Open dialog box but when i click OK
FP shows me only the Root of my IIs wich is outside WSS.
In fact i cannot open any web site located inside WSS.

I am guessing now that it is not possible....

Does it work on your server?

Your best bet will be to copy the file to your hard drive, modify with FP
and copy it back  to the Web Folder. I don't think FP supports the Enhanced
