Forms Authentication & People Picker

Asked By: Nicole    Date: May 30    Category: MOSS    Views: 1449

We are attempting to use forms authentication to authenticate users
from 3 two-way trusted forests. We have verified through a test
application that we can authenticate from all 3 forests, however, we
are having issues with the People Picker not allowing us to select from
the other domains.

Here is the command we have used to set the peoplepicker-
searchadforests property based off of Joel Oleson's blog article:

STSADM.exe -o setproperty -propertyname peoplepicker-searchadforests -
propertyvalue "domain:trusteddomain" -url "http://webapplication"

trusteddomain: Is domain B where we want to select users from.

webapplication: This is located in domain A, it is the resource domain.

The root forest (domain A), is on Windows Server 2008 with Domain
Functionality at 2008 level. The other forests (domains B & C) are on
Windows Server 2003 with Domain Functionality at 2003 level.

What version of WSS?
Have you executed:
stsadm –o setapppassword–password <SomeKey>?

Using MOSS 2007 Enterprise.

No we haven't executed that. Didn't think we had to because when we try to
pass credentials through the other command  we get an error.
