Form Validation

Asked By: Carter    Date: Jul 23    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 984

Apparently, setting Exchange up for "Form Validation" will disable
your mail web parts. The log on form just sits there and looks dumb.

I also presume this is not an issue when your mail is in the same
domain as the portal.

Anyone have any ideas for an easy solution?

Is this Web Part any better:

I read somewhere that you can wrap Outlook's ActiveX controls in your
own Web Part and nearly reproduce OWA. Those ActiveX controls may handle
this Exchange setting  better.

So I download the web  part and I get a .dwp, a .dll and a .txt.
Where does it tell me what to do with them?

I've downloaded and attached the zip file (5K) to this email.

I would have guessed that the .txt file would explain how to deploy the
.dll and .dwp files. But I wasn't sure so I downloaded the zip and
checked. It actually contains the SafeControl entry that you will need
to paste into the web.config file in the root directory of your
SharePoint site. Search for the word SafeControl and paste the element
from the TXT file at the bottom of the existing list of <SafeContol>

.dll's can go into the /bin directory of your SharePoint Site (if there
isn't one, you can create one) or drag and drop the DLL into the Global
Assembly Cache, c:\windows\assembly).

.dwp's can be manually deployed in at least three ways:
1) Imported directly onto a web  Part Page: Using the menu in the upper
right hand corner click Modify Shared Page > Add Web Parts > Import,
then click the Browse... button to and select the DWP, click the Upload
button, and drag and drop the Web Part onto a zone in your Web Part
2) Imported into the Site Web Web Part Gallery: Click Site Settings from
the top nav on a WSS Team Site, click Site Administration, click Manage
Web Part Gallery, click Upload Web Part, Browse to and select the DWP,
click Save and Close, navigate to a Web Part Page, and drag and drop
onto a zone.
3) Imported into the Virtual Server Web Part Gallery: Copy the DWP into
the /wpcatalog directory of your SharePoint Site. This will place it
into the Virtual Server Gallery. Navigate to a Web Part Page, and drag
and drop the Web Part onto a zone.

I'm not sure where I was supposed
to go to find this out but this thread works for me.
