flash image

Asked By: Mercedes    Date: Oct 06    Category: MOSS    Views: 1284

I have inherited a MOSS sp2 site collection that is used for our
intranet which contains a flash image. When trying to upgrade to sp2010,
the flash image does not work as expected. I have a path of
/_layouts/images/mscontl.gif. This is the path that was on our sp2007
server. Is it still valid for our 2010 server? Any suggestions?

That path to that icon is still valid, but that wouldn't have anything to do
with displaying a flash image. They must have put some kind of
customization on the MOSS site for it to display flash. I've done it in
both 2007 and 2010 using javascript. You might want to search to see if
there was javascript on the old master page that didn't get upgraded.

how did you add the image on your page ? make sure you have specified the
relative url of image.

If you are using content editor webpart and your 2010 Site Collection URL has
changed then URLs will not get upgraded.

(Or a content editor web part...)

Not sure what you mean by 'flash image' since the file you reference is a
GIF file. However, does 2010 have a _layouts/images folder? If so can you browse
through and locate a similar image to put in its place...?

By Default SharePoint 2010 has restrictions on displaying Flash files(swf) - Go
to central administration -> web application's general settings -> and check the
"Browser File Handling" to "Permissive".

Thanks for the input. It did not fix the problem below, but did fix
another issue I was having.

I would like to correct this and let you know that it did fix the flash
issue as well. It just took some time to correct.
