Filter Web Part - WSS

Asked By: Carlton    Date: Nov 16    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1339

I have one post in similar issue however it has come to completely new question.

We have WSS 3.0 not Office Server. I have one page with different web parts (Office PivotTable) web parts connects to Analysis Services 2005 cube as data source. I need to build feature that when user change filter in one Web Part (PivotTable) all Web Part (PivotTable) should change/refresh.

I should have one “Filter Web Part” and other Web Parts uses Connection -> “Filter Data with”. Which is good idea.

I don’t see “Filter Web Part” in my sharepoint web parts list and not sure, may be because I have only WSS 3.0 not Office Server. Please correct me if I can have “Filter Web Part” in WSS then how?

If “Filter Web Part” is only in Office Server then it’s bad because I can not buy Server for just one web part…

Other options, If I try to develop the web part my self is any one knows it’s possible to create a web part which will have PivotTable like filter controls and data coming from Analysis Services 2005 dimensions. Then Use this web part as filter to link my other Office PivotTable web part in page? It’s long call for me so before I just jump into.... let me know if it’s right way to do

I dont think pivot table filter  would be able to filter Analysis Services automatically. You can either build a custom web  part to send the string manually or switch to Enterprise version for Analysis Service filter.
