How do I see all the files that are checked out?

Date: Oct 13    Category: MOSS    Views: 888

I am new here and relatively new at SharePoint.
I am the administrator of my SP library and we are moving it to a site
(which so far, has not shown the best results).

Questions:

1. Is there a way for me to see the list of all the files that are
checked out in my library? If yes, how?
2. Same question for sites: How can I see all the files that are checked
out?
3. Also, what is the best practice when moving a library to a site? I
have a library and prepared a new site. IT moved all the library folders to
sub-libraries on the new target site: all the files showed a check-out
status.
So they redid the move; now most of the files were still in check-out
status. I guess that you have to disable check-in/check-out for each
library?
4. I know that this question is a bit silly but is there a way to the
site on top of the existing library instead of moving all the library
contents? Is this feasible?

I'm not sure which version you're using, but the approach should be
similar in 2007 and 2010. The following article has some tips for you on
viewing checked out files:

mscerts.programming4.us/sharepoint/sharepoint%202010%20%20%20see%20what%2\
0files%20or%20list%20items%20are%20checked%20out%20to%20you.aspx

Regarding the rest of your questions, I'm a bit confused. Are you
trying to break up the contents of the library into several libraries? What
is your goal here?

You might be able to use a third-party migration tool like AvePoint;
without knowing more about your specific needs, it's hard to say.

I am using SP 2007. In fact, IT helped me with this one by setting a view
showing the files that are checked out but it only works per library, not
for the whole site.
In fact my whole documentation set was originally just one library and now,
I have my own site with several libraries (lucky me). The problem is that I
am not sure how to consolidate these check out views for the whole site.
(The transition was successful so part of my questions are no longer
relevant).

Let me clarify that I would like to see ALL the files that are checked out,
not just the files that are checked out to me but it would be great if I
could do that site wide :-)
