file format?

What is the recommend file format to store documents in Share Point? We
need to store bank statements and other business documents right now
they are in PDF format.

Better to be stored in one of Office formats since you will get full
functionality like check in and out and version history ..etc BUT if they have
to be in PDF format  it's fine just go and get iFilter to allow SharePoint to
index the content of these PDFs.

I think I will keep them in PDF format. That is how the bank sends us
the documents. I will research the iFilter.

PDF is an acceptable file  format for storing documents  in a document
library in SharePoint. The question to ask, however, is if the text in
those PDF documents need to be indexed and searchable. If the answer is
yes, then in order to have the text of a PDF searchable, you'll need to
