I've been looking at this myself on some different pages along with
emailing documents to and from sharepoint  via webforms and outlook

The name that keeps popping up is Brooktrout fax cards... Server 2003
fax utility is primitive at best according to most but primitive is all
I need. We have hundreds of outgoing/incomming per week to only a few
locations and printing them and hand faxing is well, a pain and kind of
Let me know if you find anything.

SBS 2003 does this automatically, so you may want to see how they're
accomplishing it to see if it works for you.

We have not zeroed in on the details of the
requirements but generally it wud be like :

1. One shud be able to connect to fax machine thru
sharepoint and give the required number to which the
fax needs to be sent, the message and it shud tell you
the status of ur message (whether deleivered or not)

2. Similarly you shud be notified when a fax cmes to u
from someone.

It is basically fax functionality in ur portal
