At some point I added a favicon to my SP2003 installation. It only
seems to show up in IE 7, but now someone has decided that we are not
using that logo and I cannot find the favicon anywhere on the server
or how I put it up there in the first place. Any thoughts?

NM, I found it. It was probably only showing on my box as I just had
it in 60\Templates\Images\Deptname folder...

WTF? It's back!
It must be copied on some of the other servers.

You probably just included an ico file called favicon.ico in the root of
your website.

That is whack, I searched the entire server for that file first and it
never found it. I just went to it in FP2003 and found it at the root.
Oh well, annoyance resolved. (I mean mine, not yours. I'm still here.)

That means that it probably wasn't on the file server. You see, files
that are added  via an HTTP context (typically using FP2003 in v2 and SPD
in v3) are not placed on the file server. They are directly copied into
the content database along with the row in the DOCS table indicating
their existence. These assets, even if they are pages (which the ico
file is not) can never be reghosted because they were never initially
based on a v2 direct-mode page or a v3 template page.

Anyway, glad that you found it.
