FarmDatabase.aspx -> Request Timed Out Error -> Pls Help

Well its late I have the online developers course on monday and I
didn't recieve the laptop that I needed until late this afternoon.
After hours of installing I'm finally near the end /farmDatabase.aspx
and wouldn't you know it request times out. so I tried again,
googled, tried again, restarted figured 3rd times a charm....

No Sir! the screen says to me Request times out yet again.

I had a network administrator that took the Admin Track, set up
everything except Office 2003, Front Page 2003, VS .NET 2003, The SP
Templates. (Which means he installed WinServer2k3 sp1, Promoted it to
a ACME.NET DC, Static IP, Sql Server Enterprise, I saw him install
sp3, created DomainAdmin1 and assigned it perms etc) I myself
installed the non-server software that comes before the SharePoint
install exactly as specified in the word doc download. I also
verified that Front Page Server Extentions was NOT installed when I
installed Sharepoint.

It is very late now.....

I tell the sharepoint at the farmdatabase.aspx page that I would like
to create the config database on the local machine and it times out.
I cannot remember the screen that came prior to this but I do
remember that is asked for 2 accounts and if you are following the
instuctions you are supposed to provide acme\domainadmin1 with the
password (recommended) in the tutorial for both and I did.

I'm just a 'coder', I like to write kick arse code, I don't know much
about this install/admin/config stuff and I am not suggesting that I
did not screw things up. I just have to have this laptop configured
for monday so that I can learn more....

By the way in Sharepoint Administration it does give me the option to
extend the one and online virtual server at this point but I'm just
afraid that if I do something not in the setup guide I'll have to
start over.....

An error on the farmDatabaase.aspx page when attempting to create a
config database is usually caused by the sqlservice account (could that
be the DomainAdmin1 account you describe below) does not have Security
Administrator and Database Creator rights in SQL Server.

I suspected something like that myself I checked to make sure the DomainAdmin1 had Security Admin and Create Database and that the sqlservice was running under that account it didn’t seem to help. At any rate I contacted a co-worker with more experience than myself over the weekend and dropped the laptop and setup instructions off with him. He sent me an email Sunday saying it was ready so hopefully all will be peachy for class today.
