Fails to update new audience list

Asked By: Keaton    Date: Feb 11    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1081

People I have added are not showing up in the audience and while investigating I checked the event log. I am getting the following which I have not been able to figure out what is the fix.

A huge list of errors are repeating… here are the most common ones that repeat:

Error #1

The content source <https://intranet/> cannot be accessed.

Context: https://intranet/ Application, Portal_Content Catalog

Details:

Access is denied. Check that the Default Content Access Account in SharePoint Central Administration is correct, or follow the "Exclude and Include Content" link to add a rule to specify the proper crawling account to access this URL. (0x80041205)

Error #2

The content source <spss://intranet/site$$$people> cannot be accessed.

Context: https://intranet/ Application, Portal_Content Catalog

Details:

An unrecognized HTTP status was received. Check that the address can be accessed using Internet Explorer. (0x80041204)

Error#3

The content source <https://intranet/> cannot be accessed.

Context: https://intranet/ Application, Portal_Content Catalog

Details:

Access is denied. Check that the Default Content Access Account in SharePoint Central Administration is correct, or follow the "Exclude and Include Content" link to add a rule to specify the proper crawling account to access this URL. (0x80041205)

Based on the event log entries this apparently has been an issue for sometime, but because I added an area with an audience and it wasn't working I didn't realize that it was an issue until this past Saturday. I referenced KB831085 and actually reset my system account password thinking that may have been the snafu, but that did not correct it. This is an SSL site and everything works except when I make a change to an audience or initiate a crawl and it does not update the lists.

Any thoughts or suggestions from the gurus out there will be appreciated. I did consider taking it out of the domain and then rejoining it again but it is a production site and didn't want to temp fate unless that would fix it for sure.
