Extranet Problems

Asked By: Stevie    Date: Jan 13    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 938

I have successfully installed and customised an installation of SPS,
my users can happily use the system from within our internal network,
but there are some documents on the system we don't want to expose to
the outside world (even with the inherent security). The current SPS
install resides behind our firewall.

We want to install another instance of SPPS within our DMZ and use
the internal SPS install for searching and retrieval from staff via
the internet.

How can we 'mirror' the functionality of the Intranet in the DMZ
without actually creating content on the DMZ instance but giving
external staff full use of SPPS functionality as if they were
accessing SPPS from within the organisation.

I suppose what I'm asking is, is there some way to allow users
outside our network access to the server without putting it in the
DMZ, but rather having another server in the DMZ that POINTS to our
internal version (we can poke a small hole in the firewall for this
to occur).
