I'm trying to deploy sharepoint in an extranet environment, following the
white paper published by Microsoft. The SPS server is behind an ISA server.
When i come to the point of mapping an external IP address to the internal
IP address (in the ISA management console) there something missing:
the white paper tells to do the following:
publish the server, following the "New Server Publishing rule Wizard". I do
that and everything is OK, but when I come to the page Protocol Settings,
under the Apply the rule to this protocol, i cannot select HTTP Server
protocol (is not listed) and i have not enabled SSL.
Has anyone got suggestions?

I have had a variety of problems relating to extranet  access. Microsft
changed it's sps  support group last January. The previous support group is
the one that wrote the white  paper. The advice now from MS support - don't
use that white paper. There is on the web site

An extranet config tool. I would wipe as much as you can of what you have
and start over with this. Better yet config a new machine with 2000 server
at least sp2, SharepointPortal SP1 - start with NO virus checking. Install
all your content. Then run extranet config. Install anti-virus, but allow NO
scans during installation. Then use as a once a week scanner with settings
to exclude the directories MS recommends for exclusion. You definitely don't
want to scan your web store.

but I did follow that white  paper, published  in May 2002.
