Extracting Data From the Usage Analytical Reports

Asked By: Eve    Date: Aug 03    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 2040

I need to use Sql Server Reporting Services 2005 for the following SharePoint reports.

1) Number of Contributions of users in all lists and libraries in a site collection
2) Number of logins per user for the same site collection

Is there a way to use the Object Model or SharePoint web services to retrieve the data in the Usage Analytical Reports and pass them to sharepoint reporting services ?

you can directly Query the SharedServiceProvider DB, just connect to SharePoint shared services  database and it has all the tables and views you need to generate the reports.
Following is a sample query that retrieves the most popular documents in a SharePoint site.

SELECT ANLResource.DocName, COUNT_BIG(*) AS HitCount

FROM ANLResourceHits INNER JOIN

ANLWeb ON ANLResourceHits.WebGuid = ANLWeb.WebGuid INNER JOIN

ANLResource ON ANLResourceHits.ResourceId = ANLResource.ResourceId

WHERE (CHARINDEX(’.aspx’, ANLResource.DocName) = 0) AND (CHARINDEX(’.swf’,

ANLResource.DocName) = 0)

GROUP BY ANLResource.DocName

ORDER BY HitCount DESC

check the views in the shared services  DB, there is a view named ANLHomePageHit.
try to use it
