Can I extract files from a WSS_Content.mdf file?

Asked By: Mrigendra Bhuyan         Date: Jun 16, 2010      Category: WSS      Views: 1112

I recently had to reinstall sharepoint on my server. I thought it would be easy to restore the intranet site at work as I had been taking regular backups using the Sharepoint 3.0 Administration. After several attempts, I eventually managed to run restore from backup with out running into any errors. Unfortunately, when I try to browse the intranet site after that, I don't see any of the old data restored on the intranet. I'm particularly interested in the pictures I had on a pictures' list on the old site. Now, given that I seem to have run out of options, I wanted to know if it is possible for me to somehow extract these pictures from the WSS_Content.mdf file I see in the backup. I'm assuming that this is where all the content of my old intranet site is stored. I'm sorry if I sound very ignorant but your help will be highly appreciated.
