External Users in a site

Asked By: Chelsea    Date: Nov 20    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 692

I have a feeling from when I was on the Beta for the original STS in 2001 that this was possible, but we just haven’t been able to make it happen – yep, it’s been a while

We have created a Decision Meeting Workspace subsite for a the Board of the organization for the purpose of secured confidential papers and discussions. Many of the Board Members are external to the organization and so don’t need the full Active Directory User facilities. Is it possible to allow external people to access the site and participate without using up a Server User Licence.

What we have done to this point is

- Add them to a security group

- In Server Manager, allow external people to access the sharepoint site

Trying to add those members to the site permissions from the Address Book fails.
