Extended Web App SSL Trouble

Asked By: Callie    Date: May 22    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1019

We have implemented an intranet for a client that wants to also have it
be available via the internet via SSL. I have extended the site using
SSL and have set up a entry in the DNS server to point to that site.
The certificate is installed and works properly.

Problem: Can navigate to site from outside company network.
Authenticates via IIS just fine. But once you get "inside" you are
givein an error: "The resource you are looking for is unavailable..."
The resource is the default.aspx page.

Any ideas as to what and why this could be happening.

Did you configure an Alternate Access Mapping for the SSL URL?

Is the certificate  tied to a specific host name, and the host is
accessed differently from outside the company  network?

Can you access the site  using the IP address i.e.
https://192.168.1.100 from inside? If you can (you may get an warning
about the certificate), then the problem  most likely resides in DNS.
Some organizations use and inside  DNS and an outside DNS so while the
outside DNS has the entry  for your portal, it may be missing on the
internal DNS.
