Exporting list and data from one wss instance to another

Asked By: Jakob    Date: Aug 16    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1919

I have virtual pc running as my wss development environment, then the
business has a server setup for our team development, from there it goes into
production. I have created a great number of custom lists to serve as input for
a custom asp.net form. I want to export the list and data from the vm
environment and import it to the team environment, eventually going into
production environment. I have full access to all three environment server file
systems and remote access, but they are not all on the same domain.

Looking for simple and easy way to export LIST and DATA from one environment to
another (Does not have to be at the same time nor a single file solution)?

NO THIRD PARTY SOFTWARE ALLOWED if no solution then I will have to export data
to excel and then recreate all the lists and columns.

If your environments are very similar (same site templates used and
features activated) you might try saving the lists  as templates with
data. You'll lose ownership/created/modified type information, but most
of the content should come across.

Just feel the need to add the constant reminder that this will only work the
first time  you create the lists  in production. Once you start using them in
production you won't be able to update them with changes from the Dev
environment.
