Explorer View crashes IE despite fix methods

  Asked By: Payal    Date: Dec 14    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1161

Whenever I try to view the Explorer view on my Sharepoint site, it
crashes IE.
Things i've tried:

-->Enabled WebClient Services, set to enable automatically, restarted
-->Enable signed/unsigned/not-marked-as-safe ActiveX Controls
-->Tried on three different computers

Ironically, whenever I try to access the view with Mozilla, the browser
starts to draw the view and then says "Explorer View Requires IE 5."
When I use IE 6, It just gives me a blank page, and hangs (ie "stops

Will this view really only work with IE 5? This site is going to be
public soon for my whole building, so I can't really tell four hundred
constituents to downgrade their browser (if thats even possible with IE)
so that this one view will work.

Any new ideas at all would be appreciated. I'm ready to try pretty much

I have experienced the same thing for a while and have stopped using the
feature. My IE also hangs  but if I wait (>3 min) it will return, and
sometimes I can start using the feature other times it returns with an
"The page  cannot be displayed". Have anyone else experienced this?
