An exception occurred while creating a search indexer application.

Asked By: Holly    Date: Aug 10    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1162

this error is filling up my event log roughly 1 every 30 seconds. It comes
from the SharePoint Portal Administration Service. It is EventID 602

An exception occurred while creating a search indexer application.

This is a stand-alone portal server, so it has all of the roles. I tried
disabling the index role, but since this is a stand-alone server, no go.

In addition, Portal Search does not work. If I go to Configure Search and
Indexing, then I get this error

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

I re-entered the security information (Central Admin, Farm Account
Settings), and the errors stopped for maybe 2 minutes. Search still didn't
work though.

Any thoughts?

These are so generic that it is difficult to troubleshoot. I’d suggest that if you’re in a pinch, you call product support services. This could be anything from the service  account not having local admin  access to the default content access account not having proper permissions to sharepoint.
