Can Excel or Word file get data from a Sharepoint list

Asked By: Martin Haglund         Date: Aug 31, 2010      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 1510

I have seen that it is possible for a SharePoint web part to merge data from a list into a Word document. But, Is it possible for an Excel file, or Word file, using Visual Basic macros, to find and get data from a specific row in a SharePoint list? For example, the data would be brought into the Excel or Word file - filling in cells of a form.

What are some of the hurdles to get over to achive that?

You can try sharepoint  Document Generator from http://www.sharepointdrive.com . If you need data  just from one row  - the free version should be enought for you.
