Events in WSS

Can I trap the events that occur in WSS and have a custom event
handling IN ADDITION to whatever event handling Sharepoint provides?

What is the way to achieve this?

Sure u can.
Events programming (workflows) is avaliable through MS Office XP
developer - www.microsoft.com/.../default.htm
Or just get Exchange 2000 SDK from http://msdn.microsoft.com/exchange,
also there u can find a bunch of samples and other stuff. Sharepoint
uses the same storage as Exchange 2000
