Events (Meeting Workspace)

I'm at the portal level. I create an event and noticed I do not have the
checkbox to create a Meeting Workspace. I then went into modify settings and
columns and saw that workspace was in there as a column but I just can't see it.

But when I'm at the WSS level, I have that checkbox.

Can somebody please explain?
