Event on all list types

Asked By: Micah    Date: Dec 08    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 927

Event on all list types: This is an important feature. The following events should be exposed. OnSaveItem (When an item is saved). OnDeleteItem (When a item is deleted).

What problems would this solve for you?

This is an important one. The reason for this is to be able to trigger events  on saving an object to a list. In many cases, users will maintain lists in one site that they want to replicate to an other site for instance. In other cases, being able to trigger custom code on save/delete will allow us to build some workflow solutions, where for instance content will require multiple level of approvals (But this may be redundant with 4). I believe that in any case being able to capture event  on lists is of a great value for instance to create Calculated value with more complex information or to validate the information based on some business rules.

The more events  the better, the more granular the better. Not just an event  that says "this list  changed", but "this item  in this list changed for this reason plus here is additional information on the event notification structure".
