Asked By: Uma    Date: Mar 22    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1535

We have a WSS2.0 on Windows 2003 standard server RC2. got the Event ID 1000,
after applying security patch 951748

Unable to connect the configuration database.

Removed 951748 and Checked MSKB 823287, still no help.

Anyone having the issue.

Try detaching the content database  entry from the CA GUI and then
re-connecting. We had this same problem on one of our older WSSV2 farns.

You will see the entry for content databases by clicking on the Windows
Sharepoint Services link on the left hand side of the screen. From there, find
the option for virtual server settings and then click on the content database
link. Sorry if my description isn't entirely accurate as I'm doing this from
memory at the moment.

Is that the security patch that came out last night? If so, I've seen some
reports that it messes up the domain account that SQL is running under and SQL
can no longer be started with that account. This is not a Fix, but I have heard
that setting SQL to run as Local SYSTEM will temporarily fix the issue. It may
at least get you back up and running long enough to contact Product support for
a more permanent solution.

yes, it was last night, however, the SQL ( msdn) did start with local system.
