Errors starting crawl

Asked By: Jagdish Bargi         Date: Dec 15, 2009      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 174

I am seeing the following events in the application log related to
indexing content sources. These events show up a couple of days
after trouble free indexing...

Microsoft Search - ID 3036

Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type
at this computer.

Microsoft Search - ID 3024

The crawl could not be started because the start addresses cannot be
accessed. Fix the errors and try the crawl again.

Once these events show up all indexing other than Workspace
Applications fails. This includes local web sites and file sources
and internet based sites that do not even require a userid or
password.

The "Default Content Access Account" is set to use the domain
administrator and password. Interestingly enough resetting the
account name and password using the SharePoint console seens to fix
this problem for a couple of days after which the problem begins
again. The account and password are the same so what gives?

Anyone seen this behavior before?
