Error on v2 beta

Asked By: Abhishek    Date: Sep 22    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 608

With our v2 beta site we're getting an 'Error - Thread was being
aborted' every time we click SITE SETTINGS at the root level. It also
mentions something about a Category does not exist. Any ideas?

I had this happen to me also. I was playing around with categories and
something died and left me with this error. I could not figure it out
and did do some tracing into the db as well but I tried to restore from
a backup and that was not pretty for my install. I ended up
reinstalling. Were you changing anything when it started doing this?

I had been adjusting categories recently, so I'd be willing to bet that
this is related. However, the error  doesn't give me much to go on - I
might try reverting the categories back to their starting positions (if
I can remember how they go).

You might try and trace the call into the db with Profiler and see if
you are getting an error  back. Might even watch for a bad login. Every
now and then I find something interesting via Profiler that leads me to
the answer. Right now SPS v2 is too new that did not spend a whole lot
of time  on it before reinstalling.

I believe this happened to ME after changing the password to the
domain account I used to install it in the first place.

How did you fix this? Did you simply change the password back? If so then I
wonder if the error  stems from a bad log on to SQL Server and therefore no info
back from the db.
