Error importing spreadsheet to create list

Asked By: Deon    Date: Feb 24    Category: MOSS    Views: 8247

This should be pretty simple, but when I try to create a list (MOSS 2007) by
importing a spreadsheet -- no matter whether I use a named range or
specified cells -- I get the following error:

"The selected range cannot be converted to a list before publishing or the
existing list is invalid."

This is an Excel 2003 sheet, coming from a client machine with Office 2003
installed. What am I missing here?

after creating a list  in the spreadsheet  (using the Create List
command), I was able to do the import. Not sure why the Create List failed
several times either, but it works now.

The XL range to create  a SP list  from MUST be data only, no formulas, no
links, etc. In XL2003 try copy N paste as values to a different range area.
Then use it to send to SP. Should work like a charm.

What's funny is that the range didn't work until I expanded
it to include an additional column.
