Error extending Web Application

Asked By: Rishi    Date: Apr 02    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 5705

We attempted to extend a web application so that it has a different
host header on port 80. We recieved the following error:

nition named "Provisioning 15bd1307-d1a7-4ecb-abc4-c71055d0807e" already
exists under the parent
Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPWebService named "". Rename
your object or delete the existing object."

After we recieved the error, we tested the site on the port, and it did
indeed work; however, we are wondering what the error stems from.

Chances are the error  stems from the fact that if you already had a
timer job definition created with the same name. If you look in
Operations | Timer Job Definitions, you will probably find a job with
the below name. Clicking on the job name should give you the option
to delete  it.

I do indeed see a list of jobs, but nothing specifically that relates
to the error. The closest that I see would be:
Provisioning Web Application (MOSS_HTO_100). Would that be the
correct one? There isn't a job that identifies with the GUID thrown
by the error.

View the details of that particual timer job. When the details
display, look in the address bar at the JobID= field. Is the JobID
the same as the GUID you received in the error?
