Error : Enable to connect to the configuration database

Asked By: Kayla Lewis         Date: Mar 15, 2009      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 282

After updating ASP.NET version from 1.0 to 2.0 , i am getting an error
like this after trying to open the sharepoint Central Admin page.

Unable to connect to the configuration database. Ensure that the
database server is online and that the configuration database exists.
If the configuration database administration account password recently
changed or expired, see the Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server
2003 Administrator's Guide for instructions on how to update the
password. If the configuration database or database server is
permanently unavailable, click Disconnect from configuration database.

What version  and service pack are you running, and is this WSS or SPS? WSS SP2
is needed for ASP.NET 2.0, SPS doesn't support it regardless of SP level.

Actually my query is not similar but the error  i got i same.
I wanted to create site through a C# using stsadm.
the issue is the current logged in user is not admin  on site or admin on
machine.Hence is ther a way we can impersonate admin in command promt as its a
scheduler which would run on particular time.
