When I try to create a new Shared Services Provider
along with the MySite location, I get this error for
both websites:
The following error occurred while querying database
'SharedServices1_DB' on server
'DEVSHAREPOINT01\OfficeServers': (-1) An error has
occurred while establishing a connection to the
server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this
failure may be caused by the fact that under the
default settings SQL Server does not allow remote
connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces,
error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)
I am currently using SQL Server 2005 Developer's
Edition. I went to the Surface area configuration and
changed the remote connections to allow for TCP/IP and
named pipes and have stopped and restarted the
service, but I still get this same error.
Is there a way to change the defaults on the
Developer's Edition of SQL Server 2005 or would I have
to go to Enterprise Edition?
Could the error involve something else?
