I installed the Developer’s edition of SQL Server 2005
and then I followed the instructions on the KB article
on how to Enable Remote connections through the
Surface Area Configuration. When I try to create the
Shared Services Provider site and the My Site
Location, I get aremote connections error. I can get
past the remote connections error if I stop and
restart the MICROSOFT##SSEE database, but I run into
this error:
An unhandled exception occurred in the user
interface.Exception Information: A transport-level
error has occurred when sending the request to the
server. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 0 –
The pipe is being closed.)
A variation of this error I can sometimes get is:
(provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 0 - No process
is on the other end of the pipe.)
Is there a spot some place where I can change the
default settings of SQL Server2005 so I won’t
encounter the remote connections error?
Is there anything that can be done about the Named
Pipes provider errors?
