Editing Page in Portal

Asked By: Keaton Boyle         Date: Sep 18, 2006      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 235

I just starting using Portal and have a question. On all of the pages
I am able to click the Edit Page link and then select the Modify
Shared Page link. However, when I click Edit Page on the Sites page it
does not bring up the Modify Shared Page in the uppper right. Id there
not a way to modify the Sites page?

It sounds like you need to try another page  template. Go to your sites
page. In the actions bar, click  change settings. Then, go to
the "page" tab. You can change your template there. I personally use
the standard site template, but then again, I am the only one who uses
the page. (I think our execs want our users to be lost on the portal)

I don't think you can add a web part or get "Modify Shared Page" as default.aspx file in SPSSITES site definition redirects to Summary.aspx. You will have to a add web part zone in SUMMARY.ASPX file (SPSSITES\LISTS\SITESLST)

you can goto AllItems.aspx and append ?toolpanneview=2 example
SiteDirectory/Lists/Sites/AllItems.aspx?toolpaneview=2
