Edit Properties of Multiple Documents?

In a SharePoint 2003 document library, we need to recategorize a whole
lot of documents (around 700). How can we edit the properties of a
bunch of documents at the same time?

Have you tried datasheet view????????

I personally use the datasheet view or export the list into excel -
both work great to modify a large list.
