Edit page with SPD

Asked By: Eliseo    Date: Jan 02    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1980

I created a team site with web parts on the front page for the
libraries. I want to take it into Designer to change the web part zones
but I get the following error:

soap:ServerServer was unable to process request. ---> An unexpected
error occurred while opening this page. For assistance, contact your
site administrator.

The problem is, I'm the site administrator and I don't have a clue what
happened. It worked fine yesterday; this morning I get the error.

Any idea what is going on and how I fix it?

remote possibility, but an Admin could have restricted it via a Web application
policy change  in Central Administration.

Thanks but I'm the only admin and I never went any near Central
administration while doing this. Crazy as it sounds I just recreated
the whole thing and everything is fine  now.

This message is typically because there is a custom web  Part on the page  that
SPD cannot determine is safe for execution. If you remove any custom Web Parts
and reopen the page, I suspect that the error  will go away.

I think something else was going on because I reinstalled them to a new
site and was able to edit  the page  just fine  so it wasn't your web  part.
It's okay though - with the new site  everything is working fine and my
users are getting and using the videos - which are terrific by the way.
Our building is under construction and we lost our training room area
for the duration.
