Dynamic menus and announcement webpart in MOSS

Asked By: Aiesha Amin         Date: Nov 20, 2007      Category: MOSS      Views: 284

Quite some time ago I modified the default.master page to have MOSS use
dynamic menus (e.g., cascading drop-down menus to navigate through
sites and subsites), and it's been working wonderfully. However, I just
came across a problem and I'm wondering if anyone knows what to do
about it.

On my top-level page, I have the default announcements web part.
However, as soon as I actually add an announcement to the announcement
list, the dynamic menus no longer work on the home page (but do work
from subsequent pages.)

I've tried moving the web part around to no effect. I've tried
deleting the announcement text (just having the title) to no effect.
I've tried deleting the announcement itself, and voila, the dynamic
menus work again.

Interesting problem. Can you post your menu code? It sounds as though the
web part  is trying to use the same bit of code somewhere as your menu. This
could be javascript, a CSS style, or something of that nature.
