What you are seeing is where someone has found where the value is written on
their laptop

Its in the HKLM_Local_Machine hive because it applies to all users

Its under software as it applies to a piece of software

Its under policies as its been applied by a GPO

You could, therefore, add these keys yourself to each machine or you could add
them using a GPO

To add them using a GPO you need to download the administrative templates and
add them to a GPO

You can download them from

Office 2003 SP3 - http://tinyurl.com/5qkmcy
Office 2007 - http://tinyurl.com/3aw43u

Download the appropriate templates and extract them

1. Edit a GPO
2. Right-click Administrative Templates, and then click Add/Remove
Note Administrative Templates are available under either Computer or User
Configuration. Select the configuration that is correct for your custom
3. Click Add.
4. Navigate to where you extracted the files to and click an ADM file, and
then click Open.
5. Click Close.
6. The custom ADM file policy settings are now available in Group Policy
Object Editor
You can now browse down to the settings - there is a separate ADM file for Word,
another for excel, another for powerpoint etc.
