Domains and Documents

Asked By: Candice    Date: Oct 17    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 990

I'm having some difficulty in setting up my Sharepoint server to work with 2
domain names at one time.

For example. Https://bot.bioport.us is a sharepoint server I've been
running for 5 months. Everything has been fine, people have been able to
create documents, etc on this server with no problems.

Yesterday I added https://asap.bioport.us/ASAP/ is another Sharepoint
instance on the same server. Both IP's are the same.

Now's where I am running into trouble.

I can go to bot.bioport.us/asap and add files to the ASAP instance of
Sharepoint easily but when I go to asap.bioport.us I can only read
documents. Trying to add a document presents me with.

Access Denied - You do not have permission to access this item.

So in other words, coming into the site on one domain name works fine, the
other domain name only allows Read-only access.

Anyone have any advice on how to fix this problem? The server is Windows
2000 SP4 with Sharepoint 2001 SP2a

With sharepoint  2001, you need to use the extranet utility to configure
access, make sure anonymous is not enable on the new instance

I confirmed that anonymous is not enabled. The extranet utility was used
and it's possible to access  the sharepoint  server using the new domian name.
It even knows that I'm logged in as it will let me know that a file is
checked out to me. However whenever I try to add  a file it prompts me that
I don't have permission.
